Date: 29.06.2026

Since 1 January 2026, national standards in the field of circular economy (ST RK 4012-2025 and ST RK 4013-2025) have entered into force in Kazakhstan. These standards aim to advance sustainable production and consumption and to improve the efficiency of resource and waste management across the country.

Within the ERASMUS+ CirculEc project, Kazakhstan's universities are joining forces to promote circular economy principles and sustainable development in education and research. The consortium includes:

- D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University - Project grant holder

- Alikhan Bokeikhan University

- Ualikhanov University

- Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz

Their joint efforts focus on integrating modern approaches to circular economy into curricula, research initiatives, and collaboration with business and society, thereby supporting the country's transition to a more sustainable and innovation-driven model of development.
